HAWKE’S BAY SHOW
DATE TO STAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, July 8. A proposal from the Royal Agricultural Society that the Hawke’s Bay A and P Society show be held a week earlier because of the clash in dates with the Wairarapa show and Royal Show was rejected at today’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay executive. The president, Mr C. White, commented that the date was early enough at present without being shifted forward still further. When asked what would be the effect of the move to provide a permanent home at Wellington for the Royal Agricultural Society, the opinion was expressed by Mr R. H. Tod that the move would result in the disintegration of the society. Mr Tod said he could not see that the Royal Society had done any great good for agriculture, but it was largely a question for stud breeders. If they did not wish the society to cease functioning it would be necessary to oppose the centralisation with shows at Wellington.
