CARTERTON
FAREWELL FUNCTION. (“Times-Age” Special.) Popular residents of Dalefield, Mi' and Mrs J. Burnett, who are leaving the district shortly, are to be entertained at a social this evening. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. At the euchre tournament held in St. Mary’s Hall the first prizes were won by Miss Steffert and Mr K. Hodder, while Mrs Challis and Mr G. Challis won the second prizes. The men’s consolation prize went to Mr H. Goodin. ART GALLERY VISIT. In connection with the visit of the pupils of the Carterton School to Wellington the children were in charge of Mr H. Leete, acting headipaster of the District High School, and accompanied by Miss Flynn and Mr R. Ward. The exhibition of children’s art at the National Art Gallery included specimens of poster work, mosaic paints, stencilling, lino cuts, pascal paint, potato cuts, applique and pencil. Youthful artists from Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, Canada, New York, Switzerland and Vienna contributed to this educational display. Prior to viewing the exhibition an interesting lecuire on the Maori section of the museum was given by Mr Phillips.
