Liberation of the Chilean sawfly for an attack on bidibidi is contemplated in two selected positions in the Gisborne and coast districts. A visit was paid to the destrict recently by Dr D. Miller, the Government officer, for the purpose of inspecting suitable localities. He indicated that the parasite would be liberated on Pukihiroa station, near Ruatoria, and on a property l at Hangaroa. The liberations are the result of money raised thrfough the Poverty Bay and East Coaist Sheep Owners’ Union, who pre’failed upon Dr Miller to secure sufficient supplies for this district. A total oil :£225 was subscribed by farmers of i !he district, and the impending liberations: are the result.
