STOCK MARKET

DAIRY DISPERSAL SALE Wright, Stephenson & Co., Ltd. report:—We held a sale in the Carterton Saleyards yesterday when we offered Mr R. O. Rayner’s dairy herd. There was a good attendance of local dairymen who showed keen interest in the sale. The cows came forward in excellent condition, and all butterfat records and calving dates were given. There was very spirited competition, and prices made up to £l7. The first 30 cows to come into the ring sold particularly well, and averaged £ll 15s. The later calvers and heifers brought the average down, although the whole offering of 65 head made the very satisfactory average of £9 18s per head. After the dairy herd had been offered Mi- Rayner sold some horses which made up to £4O.
