WEDDING
* BIRCH—ELKINS. The wedding took place recently at I St Matthew’s Church, Masterton, of : Yolande Jessie, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs A. H. Elkins, Parkvale, Carterton, to Cecil Francis, elder son of Mrs A. Birch, of Carterton. The Rev W. F. Stent, of Carterton, officiated, and Mr Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a flock of cream embossed satin cut on simple tailored ' lines finished with a small peter-pan . collar and a row of tiny buttons from neck to hem. She also wore an an- ' tique brooch, an heirloom of the fam- • ily. The embroidered tulle veil, which was lent by a friend, was held in place by a coronet Of orange blossoms and her shower bouquet consisted of cream roses, carnations and maiden-hair fern. The bridesmaids, Misses Moira Elkins, sister of the bride (chief), Edna Hubbard and Lilian Tucker, of Carterton, wore frocks of deep butter-cup taffeta poult made with empire bodices and rucked sleeves. The heartshaped neck-line and hem were finished with a pleated edging, and bronze velet flowers were worn at the neck. They also wore matching pleated halos and carried shower bouquets of tawny chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. Mr Gordon Scorgie, of Palmerston North, carried out the duties of best man, Messrs W. Whiteman and Carl Birch, brother of the bridegroom, acting as groomsmen. The ushers were Messrs Arthur Whiteman and Graham Ogilvy, of Wellington. After the ceremony Mr and Mrs Elkins, assisted by Mrs Birch, received the guests at a reception held in the Masonic Hall. The bride’s mother wore an ensemble of nigger 1 brown cloque with matching accessor- ' ies, brown stole, and carried an autumn coloured posy. Mrs Birch wore a navy tailored costume with navy ' accessories, fur necklet and carried a ' posy of deep red tonings. ( When Mr and Mrs Birch later left ' by car for the North the bride was j wearing a two-piece green suit with , brown accessories and Russian fox , fur. Their future home will be in * Wanganui, ,
