4 NATIONAL CONVENTION FIZZLES OUT CIVIC BAN ON PARADE & DEMONSTRATIONS. REPORTED SECRET MEETING. (Recd This Day, 10.20 a.m.) KINGSTON, July 5. The widely publicised first national convention of Canadian Fascists fizzled out, folowing upon a civic ban on a parade and demonstrations. Mr Adrien Arcand, the leader, from an hotel asserted that 80 delegates were meeting secretly. NO FOREIGN AID. DENIAL OF ARMS SMUGGLING. (Recd This Day, 10.20 a.m.) OTTAWA, July.s. The Justice Department has announced that an investigation revealed that the Canadian Fascists were receiving no foreign financial aid and that reports that arms were being smuggled into Canada were groundless. REGRETTED BOTH WAYS. MAYOR ON HITLER & ZOO EPISODE. (Recd This Day, 10.20 a.m.) TORONTO, July 5. The Mayor, Mr Ralph Day, replying to a Nazi protest against an aiderman’s remark regarding Herr Hitler in the Zoo, informed the German Consul that he regretted both the protest and the remark.
