Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30. Shade temperature: Maximum 49.9, minimum 34.1, terrestrial 26.3. Sunshine, 3 hours. Rain, 2 points. Frost, 4.1 degrees. Mi- H. M. Boddington reports that 2 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Geneo-al situation: Pressure is still relatively low over New Zealand and a shallow depression is passing in the south. An anti-cyclone is now mowing on to south-eastern Australia. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable winds with moderate to fresh southerlies again tomorrow. Weather mainly fair to fine but with a few isolated, local showers. Temperatures cool wiiih some frosts.
SOLWAY RAINFALL. FIGURES FOR JUNE. Mr .H. M. Boddington reports that rain was measured on 12 days in June. The maximum fall was 83 points, on the 23ird, and the minimum 1 point on the 30th. The total for the month was 2.89 inches, as compared with 3.56 (1937), 2.61 (1936), 3.97 (1935), 3.00 (1934), 3.45 (1933). The average for 35 years is 3.67 inchs. The total rainfall for the six months is 25.20 inches, as against 17.04 (1937), 24.90 (1936), 19.01 (1935), 19.46 (1934), and 18.27 (1933). The average for 35 years is 19.28 inches.
