Marshal Chiang Kai-shek has sent a circular to his officers saying that although hostilities in serious terrain and with manpower in fayour of China in a decisive stage are now imminent, victory is certain if civil and military officials co-operate with the people in augmenting the Army. RIVAL CLAIMS. SHIPS AND PLANES LOST IN RIVER FIGHTING. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) , SHANGHAI, July 3. Chinese planes raiding the Japanese River fleet at Anking claim to have sunk twelve vessels, including an aircraft carrier and two destroyers, and to have disabled 23. The Japanese claim to have brought down seven out of fourteen Chinese planes at Anking, besides sinking a Chinese gunboat. SUPPLIES OF MUNITIONS. HUGE IMPORTS THROUGH INDO-CHINA. GREAT ACCUMULATION REPORTED. (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, July 3. • The Tokio correspondent of “The Times” says the Japanese agree that the muntions entering China from Hong Kong and Macao are a ’ mere fraction of the quantity coming from Indo-China by land routes. The Chinese boast that they have enough accumulated for years of intense fighting.
