WORLD RECORD
An English-bred Jersey, Starting Taranto, owned by Mr H. D. Walston, Thriplow Farm, near Cambridge, has just created a new world’s record for daily production for the breed. In the 24 hours ending 6 a.m. on Tuesday she yielded 9941 b of milk, thus beating the existing record of 96jlb, held by Mr S. S. Lockwood’s celebrated Stonehurst Patrician’s Lily. Starting Taranto was born on July 11, 1932, and bred by Mr Grosvenor Berry. The sire was the Register Of Merit bull Starting Post, whose dam, Postmistress, also bred by Mr Berry, was the first Jersey in the world to yield over 21,0001 b milk. Starting Taronto, calved on March 12, has given 3,1931 b milk in 46 days. In her three previous lactations the figures were: First calf 10,1321 b milk in 361 days, second calf 11,514J1b milk in 338 days, third calf 13,8381 b milk in 340 days/
