OBITUARY
0 THE RT. REV. F. R. PHELPS. FORMER ARCHBISHOP OF CAPE TOWN. The many friends of Mrs Stanley Fletcher, Cornwall Street, will learn with regret of the death of her brother the Right Reverend Francis Robinson Phelphs, late Archbishop of Cape Town and Metropolitan of South Africa, which occurred at Oxford (England) on Tuesday last. The late Archbishop had only a few months ago resigned his see owing to failing health. .During his long residence (nearly twenty-five years) in South Africa, formerly for many years as Bishop of Grahamstown, and for the past six years ar Archbishop of Cape Town, he had endeared himself to the general members of the community, and at a farewell gathering in Cape Town, the Governor-Gen-eral of the Union paid a striking and worthy tribute to him for his unflagging zeal in the cause of Christianity, irrespective of creed.
