“In my opinion many of oui- workers would be doing a better service to this country on reafforestation schemes than being put to work making new roads or even new railways,” said Mr W. E. Barnard, M.P., at the meeting of local body representatives held in Napier recently to discuss flood and land drainage problems. Mr Barnard said that the question of employment was involved in flood protection policy.
