LITERARY PILGRIMAGE

HOMES OF HUGO AND BALZAC.

A well-known English literary weekly—“ John O’London’s Weekly”— is organising a literary pilgrimage to France to visit the houses of Flaubert and' Corneille, at Rouen, and the homes of Victor Hugo and Balzac in Paris. Fontainebleau and Barbizon for souvenirs of Stevenson and Katherine Mansfield will also be visited. The pilrimage will coincide with the royal visit. . ; There is also some talk of a visit of chess players to Paris to play a friendly Anglo-French match. A novelty of the trip will be that players of all strengths will be able to take part.
