PIG MARKETING

CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION’S YEAR.

The accounts of the N.Z. Co-opera-tive Pig Marketing Association, Ltd., for the season ended May 31, show that the company has had a successful year. During the season it had marketed 152,318 pigs and 176,101 bobby calves on behalf of its producer ifiembers. The company’s turnover for the year stands at the increased figure of £551,663, which demonstrates the growing value of these products to the dairyfarmer.

The administration expenses show a further reduced figure this year, being less than 2 per cent of the turnover. The company has already distributed during the season to suppliers of calves and pigs a total of £407,648 17s 2d, and there is a surplus available for distribution among pig suppliers in excess of £lB,OOO. The surplus, which it is intended to distribute to suppliers next month, shows producers’ very excellent total realisations on their pigs, since advance payments this year had been maintained at above 90 per cent of the total net value of the pigs supplied on consignment.

The following list of rates, which includes share credits and the usual l-16d premium to shareholders on qualified supply, has been decided upon. ■ The final payment on supply to October 31 was distributed in November last. Exportable porkers: To 801 b, November to February inclusive, 7-8 d; |

The company’s subscribed capital now stands in excess of £27,000, some 4000 additional shares being applied for and allotted during the season under review. It is anticipated that before the annual meeting to be held at Hamilton on July 28, a further 3000 shares will have been allotted in respect of the past season’s supply.
