MAGISTRATE’S COURT

1 SITTING AT MASTERTON TODAY. NO WARRANTS OF FITNESS. Messrs E. G. Eton and L. J. Taylor, J’s.P., presided at a sitting of the Masterton Magistrate’s Court, held this morning. For driving motor lorries without being able to produce warrafits of fitness, Wilfred Voss, G. H. Mclsaac and Edward Allsworth were convicted and fined 10s and 10s costs. Lawrence Brady was convicted and fined 10s and 12s costs for not being able to produce a warrant of fitness in respect of a motor cycle, and Wilfred Voss, driver of a motor-car, was fined 10s and 10s costs for having no warrant of fitness. Charges of Having no motor driver’s licence and no warrant of fitness were preferred against R. S. Schofield. On the first charge he was fined 10s and 10s costs and on the second a conviction only was entered. S. L. Matthews was fined 10s and 10s costs for having operated a motorcycle without an efficient silencer. A fine of 10s and 10s costs was imposed on Rangi Reiri for driving a motor cycle without a warrant of fitness and W. R. Duckett was fined 10s and 10s costs on a similar charge in respect of a motor-car. Arising out of a collision at Upper Plain on June 5. W. D. Thompson was charged with driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention. Defendant, who was represented byMr N. G. Whiteman, pleaded not guilty. At the request of counsel. SeniorSergeant G. A. Doggett agreed for mention to be made of the fact that the driver of the other car involved, a man named O'Donnell, would be charged with failing to observe the right-hand rule and with driving without due care and attention. After evidence had been heard the charge was dismissed, Mr Eton stating that the facts were not very clear.
