TARANAKI BEAT KING COUNTRY. SULLIVAN PLAYS WELL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI. June 29. Taranaki scored a convincing win over King Country today by 14 points to 3. The visiting backs had a feast of the ball, the forwards hooking cleanly from 90 per cent of the scrums. Only fine tackling by Robinson, the King Country half-back and Crossman and Cameron, the two five-eighths, prevented Taranaki from amassing a much bigger score. Sullivan played brilliantly, scoring two spectacular tries. Arnold, the Taranaki half-back, and C. Brown, also played first-class football. Richards and Coull for Taranaki excelled among the forwards, and Trusttum for King Country. For the winners Sullivan scored two tries and Richards and Pepperell one each. Young converted one. Ward kicked a penalty goal for King Country. COLLEGE MATCH. SOUTHLAND DEFEATS OTAGO. INVERCARGILL. June 29. The teams, which were evenly matched, played good football, and were prepared to open up the game at every opportunity.
