CLEARING SALE

N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: —We conducted on Tuesday a dispersal sale of Mr J. L. Heckler’s grade Jersey herd and the fixture attracted a good attendance of the public from surrounding districts. The demand for top quality cows due early, was keen and good competition on these sorts obtained throughout the sale. Top price of £l5 10s was paid bj Mr O. C. Crawley for tn outstanding young cow showing great type and quality. No individual records were available and in cases where service dates were not able to be given, prices eased unless appearances pointed to early profit. However, as mentioned above, early ealvers of quality sold extremely well. The springing' heifers were mainly an attractive lot and sold readily at prices up to £9. The milking plant and machinery, which was in tip top order made good prices as follow;— Cows: Best early ealvers, £l5 10s, £l4, £l3, £l2 15s, £l2, £ll 15s, £ll, £lO 15s, £lO 10s to £9 10s. Best late ealvers, £lO 15s, £lO, £9, £8 10s to £7 10s. Unsound cows, £4 ss, £4, £3 15s. Heifers, 2-yr.-olds, £9, £B, £7 10s, £7 5s to £6 10s. Machinery: Vacuum pump, £l2, water pump, £8 10s; 2 h.p. motor, £6, milk pump, £2; 4 h.p. motor, £3; separator clutch, £3 10s; milk cooler, £6 10s; steel sheets, £1 Is 6d.
