A BLUE DIANTHUS

NOTABLE FLOWER NOVELTY. A notable flower novelty for 1938 is being offered by a British firm, and one which is certain to delight garden lovers—the new blue dianthus dr blue sweetwilliam. This new introduction has been successfully acclimatised after years of care, and has been raised and cultivated frpm a few plants found growing in the mountains of the Far East. It is believed to be the only blue dianthus in the world. The colour is said to be a bright lavender blue, the individual flowers being small, but borne in glorious profusion' in large trusses.' The foliage is very rich, deep olive green. The plant is hardy, growing about 12in high, and is given similar treatment to the ordinary .sweetwilliam. This novelty should prove a delightful addition to the dianthus family.
