APPLICABLE TO ALL
< EXTENSION OF THE INCOME LIMIT UNDER SUPERANNUATION SCHEME (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. In an interview yesterday, the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, made it clear that the extension of the Government’s national superannuation scheme does not apply only to public servants. "Public servants were mentioned merely as an example of how the extension of the proposals would apply, but the benefit will go to everyone, whether a public servant or not," Mr Savage said. “It has to be clearly established in everyone's mind that for purposes of the national superannuation everybody is in exactly the same position as any public servant. “It is the income that counts, and this is a nearer approach to the universal superannuation. As I have said half a dozen times, it is only the beginning of the scheme. We set out to make it £2OB, and after hearing the evidence —and what is the use of hearing evidence unless one takes notice of it —we set out to take it up to the higher reaches —up to £6 a week. But those on the higher income will get less from the national superannuation fund than those getting under £2OB.
