OFFER TO BRADMAN

HIGHLY=PAID POSITION IN LONDON AT EXPIRATION OF EXISTING ENGAGEMENT. DETAILS NOT YET DISCLOSED. (Recd This Day, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, June 26. The “Daily Mirror” says Bradman is considering an offer of £2,500 a year from the Sports Investors’ Society, Limited, of London, described as a firm of bookmakers, to whom Bradman pointed out that he was bound by a present contract for some time, but the Society is prepared to renew its offer at the expiration of the present engagement, and Bradman has promised to consider it. The position is described as the chairmanship of an advisory committee to the society. Bradman, interviewed by the Australian Press Association, confirmed the report and said he had received certain correspondence concerning the offer but regarded the whole 1 affair as confidential and could not state when he was likely to decide. He was not aware that the position concerned bookmaking.
