The death has occurred at Feilding, at the age of 76 years, of the Rev David Martin, formerly, Presbyterian minister at Martinborough. Mr W. Chamberlain, who had been on a visit to Masterton, returned to Gisborne this morning. Mr Chamberlain is secretary of the Poverty Bay A. and P. Association.
Mr Bruce J. Bailey, manager of the Waiaruhe Dairy Company, Dannevirke, has been appointed manager of the Papatawa Co-op. Dairy Company, Ltd., Woodville. Canon C. H. Ritchie, rector of St John’s Episcopal Church, Edinburgh, and his son, Mr J. S. R. Ritchie, arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Aorangi from Vancouver. A former resident of Dunedin, Canon Ritchie if revisiting the Dominion after an absence of 17 years. The Hon F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, will leave Wellington tonight for Ruatoki, East Coast, where he will discuss with adherents of the Ringatu Church, Te Kooti’s church, the development of the Ruatoki Native land block. Mr Langstone is expected to return to Wellington on Wednesday morning. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday of Miss Mary McPhee, of Carterton, at the age of 64 years. She is survived by relatives living in other parts of New Zealand. The interment, which will take place in Masterton tomorrow, will be private. The Hon W. Nash, Minister of Finance and Marketing, who flew to Nelson on Saturday to lay the foundation stone of the new Government Life Office building, returned to Wellington in the afternoon and left again by the steamer express in the evening for Christchurch. He is expected to return to Wellington tomorrow morning. The death occurred yesterday morning at Oamaru of Mr Michael Joseph Hannon, aged 55 years, president of the Oamaru Trotting Club for 17 years, states a Dunedin Press Association telegram. He was recognised throughout the Dominion for his great knowledge and ability in trotting affairs. He was the owner of several outstanding horses, including Albert Cling, who won £7OOO in stakes. Mr George Braxton, of Invercargill, died at the Masterton Hospital yesterday. at the age of 57 years. The late Mr Braxton, who was a traveller by occupation, was passing through the district about eight days ago when he became ill and was admitted to the Masterton Hospital. The interment will be a private one, and will take place at Karori, Wellington, on Wednesday.
