HEAD=ON COLLISION

ACCIDENT AT MANGAMUTU. FOUR PEOPLE INJURED. As the result of a head-on collision between a car and a lorry at Mangamutu on Saturday at 5.30 p.m., four people were admitted to the Pahiatua Hospital with injuries. The vehicles involved were a light car driven by Mrs J. B. Crewe, snr., who was travelling towards Pahiatua and a light lorry driven by Mr Percy Hugh Bennett, of Ballance. Mrs Crewe had two passengers, Mesdames Boyd and Herbert, of Pahiatua and Mr Bennett had his three children with him.

All the occupants of Mrs Crewe’s car were injured, though Mrs Crewe herself, who had some ribs broken, was later able to leave hospital. Mrs Boyd suffered a fractured arm and Mrs Herbert lacerations and slight concussion. A boy of about eight years of age in Mr Bennett’s lorry suffered severe lacerations of the head. Both vehicles were considerably damaged.
