CLEARING SALES
N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co, Ltd, report: We held a most successful sale of dairy stock and sundries at Dyerville on account of Mi- E. A. Nutt. The dairy stock came forward in first class condition and this fact no doubt, contributed largely towards the success of the sale. No calving dates or individual returns were available, but nevertheless good sorts with the appearance of calving early commanded up to £l2 10s. The attendance was large and included competition from Johnsonville, but the main local buyers obtained the bulk of the herd. The weaner heifers were an exceptional}! nice line in good condition and showing well into the Ayrshire, and after keen competition realised £3 2s. Sundries, of which there were many lots sold well up to the clearing rates. We report: —■ Cows: Best early calvers £l2 10s. £l2 ss, £lls lOd, £ll 5s down to £lO 10s, medium sorts £lO, £9 10s to £8; best late calvers, £lO, £8 10s, £7; cows in milk, £5 to £6 15s; springing 2-yr heifers, £5 15s, £5 10s; weaner heifers, £3 2s; bull £7 10s. Horses: Half-draught mare, £2l. Sundries: Drill £9; harrows £5 and £4; 2f plough £23 10s; discs, £l7, £5; mower £4; tractor £64; distributor £22; dray £5; brake £3; spring cart harness £4 10s; collar and hames £1 17s; separator £3 ss; stack of hay, £lO 10s; flame thrower £7 10s; milk cans 245, 20s, 15s; pig sties £5, £2 ss. Pigs: Weanei- pigs 9s; 2 sows with 21 weaners £lO 10s; sows £3 ss. DAIRY STOCK The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report: On Friday at Nireaha we conducted a clearing sale of dairy stock, etc., of Mr Stan Goss. A fair attendance of the local public were present, and the cqws met with sound competition throughout. The bulk of the herd were due in August and later, which somewhat affected the prices, but top cows made to £lO 10s and the majority sold at from £7 15s to £9 15s. October, September, and cows due as late as November 25, made £6 5s to £9, and as indicated above, competition proved even throughout and maintained well up to the conclusion. The best of August calvers £lO 10s, £9 15s, £9 10s, £9, £8 15s, to £8; best later calvers £9, £B, £6 15s to £6 ss; cows lighter in condition and calving late made £5, £5 10s to £7 15s, according to the individual quality. Sundries: Stack of hay, £l7; milk cans, 255, 30s, 24s to 225; cart harness, £4; chains. 6s, 5s 3s; collar hames and winkers, 20s; churn, 8s; lawn mower, £2 ss; spring cart, £9; 3-leaf harrows, 255.
