FINAL SESSION

PARLIAMENT MEETING ON TUESDAY IMPREST BILL ON WEDNESDAY. ADDRESS-IN-REPLY DEBATE TO FOLLOW By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, This Day. Arrangements have been completed fox' the opening of the final session of the present Parliament on Tuesday. The first day will be devoted to the customary ceremonial opening by his Excellency the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, who will read the Speech from the Throne. The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon M. J. Savage, in an interview last night, stated that in view of the fact that there will be no obituaries of members or past members to commemorate for the first time in many years at the opening of a Parliamentary session, the House of Representative would be able to begin legislative work right away. The first measure for consideration on Wednesday, he said, would be an Imprest Supply Bill, for which urgency would be taken so that it could be put through all stages at the one sitting. The debate on the Address-in-Reply to the Governor-General’s Speech will begin on Thursday night in the House of Representatives. The Address-in-Reply is to be moved by Dr D. G. McMillan (Government, Dunedin West), and seconded by Mr B. Robert (Government, Wairarapa). In the' Legislative Council the Ad-dress-in-Reply will be moved by the Hon F. E. Lark (Auckland) and seconded by the Hon Rangi Mawhete (Wellington). It is understood that this will be the first occasion in the Council that a Maori member has seconded the traditional motion. In all probability the Adress-in-Reply debate will occupy the House of Representatives for some time, as it provides an opportunity for a very wide discussion. In view of the fact that this is a pre-election session it is not likely that members on either side of the House will ignore the very generous opportunity this occasion gives for talking on many things. “If we have any sins that have not been discussed after the Address-in-Reply debate we must be pretty black,” Mr Savage said last night. “But the shot and shell won’t be going all one way,” he added, with a smile.
