STOLEN PICTURES
RECEIVER SENT TO GAOL. (Reed’ This Day, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, June 2< George Owen, a dealer aged 38, has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for receiving two Gainsboroughs. A cablegram from London on April 29 last said the police had discovered two of the Gainsboroughs stolen from the picture gallery of Sir Edmund Davis at Chilham Castle, Canterbury. They were found wrapped in newspaper in a London office.
