CHURCH SERVICES
Tomorrow being the Sunday nearest St John's Day, will be marked by a special service at St.Matthew's Church at 11 a.m. Local members of St John Ambulance and the Nursing Division will parade for this service. At 3 p.m. a youth campaign service will be held, when two young men and two young women, members of the Masterton team which spoke in Wellington recently, will give their messages. The day will conclude with a glorious musical service of praise at 7 p.m., when St Matthew’s choir, under the direction of Mr Wm. C. Mann, and with Mr Miller Hope at the organ, will sing, “I Will Sing of Thy Power” (Sullivan), soloist, Mr Frank Thornton; “Hear My Prayer” (Mendelssohn), soloist, Mr G. Verran Greer; “The Heavens Are Telling. ’’ from Haydn’s “Creation." with the trio, Mrs Moss and Messrs Alan Green and Norman Ninnes; "O Praise God in His Holiness" (Vine Hall), soloist. Miss Grace Gaudin. and. finally. "Gloria” (Mozart). Also to be heard during the evening will be a trio of ladies’ voices, Misses Shelton. Woodhouse and Robinson. in "Lift Thine Eyes,” by Mendelssohn. Mr Les. Wales will sing "Lord God of Abraham," from Mendelssohn's "Elijah," and Mr Miller Hope will play an organ solo, the beautiful Prelude in B minor, by Chopin. Great missionary services are planned at the Methodist Church tomorrow. on the occasion of Foreign Mission department of the Methodist Church, who is a returned missionary from Papua, where he laboured for 18 years, and has returned from a tour of the Solomon Islands mission district. There will be special music by the senior choir. The morning service will be conducted by Pastor C. H. Skuse.
At the Kuripuni Metnoaist Church tomorrow mission services will be the order of the day. The Rev Fred. J. Parker will conduct the morning service, with tlie singing led by the junior choir. At night Pastor C. H. Skuse will speak on special aspects of mission work. At a missionary demonstration on Wednesday the Rev A. 11. Scrivin will give a lantern lecture.
