Miss Cooper, Gisborne, is staying with Mrs R. Cooper, Gladstone. Miss M. Langdon, Tinui, is at Paraparaumu Beach for a holiday. Mrs R. Gyde, of Hastwell, is an inmate of the Masterton Hospital. Mrs Clachan, Hamilton, is visiting her sister, Mrs S. M. Baird, Cole Street, Masterton.

Mrs J. J. Kennedy, Opaki Road, Lansdowne, has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Mrs N. H. James, Pownall Street, Masterton. is staying with her daughter, Mrs S. Wilson, Auckland.

Miss Audrey lorns, who has been staying with Mrs J. James, Masterton, is now visiting Wellington. Mrs Fraser Thompson, of Greytown, is at present spending a few weeks at Kent House Rest Home, Colombo Road, Masterton.

A large number of debutantes will be presented to His Grace Archbishop O’Shea at the Charity Ball in Masterton in August. Miss Muriel Morrison, “Awatoitoi,” Masterton, and Miss Beverley Vallance, Masterton, are the guests of Mrs St Hill, “Punawai,” Takapau. At.Feilding recently, Mr Roy M. Millett, second son of Mr and Mrs J. Johnson, of Makuri, was married to Miss Jean Dorothy Knox, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Knox, of Kimbolton. Misses Margaret, Mabel, Amelia and Naidene Knox were bridesmaids, Mr Frank Jennings, of Makuri, best man, and Mr Keith Knox groomsman. Amongst the 60 debutantes presented to His Grace Archbishop O’Shea at the annual Charity Ball in aid of the St Vincent de Paul Society for the relief of the poor, which was held in the Town Hall, Wellington, on Wednesday night, were three from Featherston, viz., Miss Margaret Rowles, wore crepe satin; Miss Joyce Taylor, frock of white plush crepe made in Victorian style, and Miss Patricia Seeley, Italian oyster- satin gown with skirt cut on the cross, ruched bodice finished at neck line with cluster of white camelias. Miss Barbara , Baird, of Masterton, whose marriage is to take place shortly, was the guest of honour recently at a morning tea party given by Misses Josie and Lois Hosking at their residence, Church Street. Each guest brought a gift of coat hangers for the bride-to-be. Those present were Mesdames Alister Buchanan, T. C. H. Miller, J. D. Reid, R. Perry, and Misses Patricia Jordan, Norma Bunny, Barbara Barton,' Dorothy Todd, Margaret Pearce, Helen Gill, Patricia Gill, Jocelyn Hornabrook, Shirley Mace, Nora Beetham and. Peggy Sellar.
