SHARP EARTHQUAKES
* EXPERIENCED AT WANGANUI. NO DAMAGE REPORTED. ' (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, June 23. Two sharp earthquakes were felt at Wanganui at about 1.20 this afternoon. Both shakes were of short duration, arid occurred at an interval of several minutes. An earthquake was felt at Wanganui last Monday, and there was another shake a few days before that. Today’s earthquake was accompanied by a deep rumbling, which many people mistook for -thunder. It occurred during the lunch hour, when the streets were thronged with people, and as soon as it was realised that it was an earthquake many ran out into the streets to get clear of buildings. People in shops and offices were disturbed at the vibrations, and many ran outside when the second shake began, but there was no suggestion of panic. No damage has been reported in the Wanganui' area. The earthquake followed a morning which was dull and overcast, with very cold temperatures.
