FEATHERSTON

JUVENILE ENTERTAINMENT A meeting of the Juvenile Entertainers was held on Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs Boston. The following officials were appointed:—Mr Harkness (chairman), Mrs Boston (secretary and treasurer), Mr Harkness and Mrs Lowell (joint producers), Mr Boston (stage manager), committee, Mesdames Harkness, McKenna, Tocker, Baker, Saunders, Brophy, McGarrie, Messrs Lowell and Brophy. The name “Featherston Joy Germs” was selected and a performance will be given in Greytown in the near future. After the meeting, Mrs Boston entertained those present at supper. PERSONAL. Miss R. Dohnt, who is on the nursing staff of the Palmerston North Hospital, is on a visit to her parents. Mr and Mrs A- Bale, Havelock North, were recent visitors to Featherston. A FAREWELL FUNCTION The ladies of the Presbyterian congregation tendered a farewell on Wednesday to Mrs Pendergast. Mrs Arch. Clark welcomed the guest of honour, and presented her with a lovely posy of violets and roses. Among those who contributed musical items were, Mrs,Houston (song), Mrs B. Burt (song), Mrs Pendergast, and Mrs Houston (duet), Miss Towart (reading), and Mrs Arch. Clark (solo). After a dainty afternoon tea Mrs Arch Clark spoke in glowing terms of Mrs Pendergast’s work and presented her with a beautifully .hand-worked Chinese linen set of wagon covers. The Rev R. S. Duncan also spoke of the splendid work Mrs Pendergast had carried out in connection with the choir, P.W.M.U. and the Guild and wished her happiness and prosperity in her new home.
