Tankers- / ley v Father Carmine. CORONATION BALL. The Coronation Ball on Wednesday night was a most enjoyable affair, bringing to a successful conclusion the recent Catholic Queen Carnival. The Queen-elect (Miss Zena Freer) was dressed in magnificent robes of office, and the train was carried by Misses Mary Williams and Barbara Forbes. Her two ladies-in-waiting were Misses Beatrice Freer and Norma Williams. Two flower girls preceded her (Noeline Bird and Mary O’Reilly). Then came the Chancellor (Mr D. L. Taverner), Chamberlain (Mr G. S. George),.and the High Chief Steward (Mr R. T. Forbes). Following these were Princess May McLeod (Featherston), her train-bearer being little Miss Josephine Anderson. Miss Ouida McLeod was maid-of-honour. Princess Pat Stewart (Martinborough) followed, her train-bearer being Miss Mollie McGillicuddy, and her maid-of-honour, Miss Mary Quin. Miss Verna Bouzaid (Greytown) had as her train-bearer and maid-of-honour Misses Josephine and Joan Bouzaid, respectively. The procession was preceded by two heralds, Misses K,athleen O’Reilly and Eileen Pinfold. e A number of honours were bestowed and the main ceremony was followed by supper, after which each queen carnival candidate was the recipient of a gift. / Miss Freer was presented with a musquash fur, Miss May McLeod an ermine fur, Miss Stewart a gold wristlet watch, and Miss Bouzaid an ermine fur. Father Heavey said that the organisers of the carnival desired to •thank the candidates and all who had taken part in the contest for their assistance, which was much appreciated.
