The Government has decided to make grants to trustees of various registered children's homes on the basis of £-2 a head for each child inmate, the money to be allocated from the accumulated surplus profits of art unions conducted for the relief of distress. Making this announcement, the Hon. W. Parry (Minister of Internal Affairs) said: “The money it is proposed to allocate should help these institutions and their charges a great deal, particularly during the winter months. The allocations will be made on receipt by the Internal Affairs Department of applications from the trustees or management of the homes, which will be considered up to July 15.
