Boddington reports that 83 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. General situation: An anti-cyclone now covers the Tasman Sea and extends on to the southern portion of the South Island. Pressure is still relatively low in the north but is rising rapidly. Forecast: Strong southerly winds reaching gale force at times but gradually decreasing. Weather cool and changeable, with pass ing showers mainly east of the ranges ibut gradually improving.
