A SLOW EXHIBITION

CROWD BECOMES RESTIVE DARING PLAY BY BRADMAN. CRICKET MATCH ENDS IN DRAW. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Copyright. (Recd This Day, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, June 21. The match between Australia and Lancashire was continued today in fine weather, the Australians going to the wickets for the second time. Brown and Fingleton were the opening batsmen. With no prospect of a decision being reached in the match, Brown settled down quietly, the bowlers having a new ball. He took an hour to score 32. The crowd, which was extremely tolerant regarding this slow exhibition, eventuually became restive. NO AMBITION IN BATTING. Fingleton and Brown continued to bat with no more ambition than a robot. After lunch, however, the pair livened up and added 32 from four overs. Brown was out after having batted for 150 minutes. He hit eight 4’s. He scored more in half an hour after lunch than in two hours before. BRADMAN DELIGHTS CROWD. Bradman, for whom the crowd waited patiently through a glum morning, did not disappoint. He began briskly but soon lost Fingleton who had been in for 190 minutes. The match was dead, but the crowd warmly applauded Bradman, who was scoring all round the wicket, at times showing great daring. He took only 73 minutes to reach the century, this being the fastest registered hundred in England in the present season. Bradman declared at 4.5 p.m. His was a chanceless innings, which included fifteen 4’s. A TAME’ DRAW. Lancashire reopened with seventy minutes left for play. Chipperfield dismissed Washbrook and Paynter in the same over, but the game ended in a tame draw. The scores were as follow: — AUSTRALIA Ist Innings 303 Second Innings.
