FRUIT CAKE

A GOOD RECIPE. This recipe should please the housewife: — Cream together 7 minutes 11,I 1 , cups of sugar J cup butter and other shortening. Sift together 2 cups flour 2 level teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt. Work the flour mixture into creamed sugar, leaving out 3 or 4 tablespoons. With the left-over flour dredge 1 cup white raisins J cup chopped citrus and lemon peel and candied cherries, mixed with J cup chopped walnuts. Add fruit to flour and sugar mixture until all are blended; then beat in gradually :l cup of milk to which has been added J teaspoon each of lemon and vanilla.

Last fold in 3 eggs beaten light. Bake in loaf pan 1.1 hours, or until done, at 350 deg F.
