PATRIOTIC WORK
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION MEETING POSITION OF FINANCES The president, Mr Duncan McGregor, occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Patriotic Association, held this morning. There were present: Sir William Perry. Messrs W. I. Armstrong, J. H. Irving. C. R. Holmes, W. Candy, W. G. Lamb. T. F. Watson, R. R. Burridge, Miss H. Card. Mesdames, J. M. Coradinc and J. Caselburg. Speaking to the annual report, previously published. Mr McGregor, said that during the year the funds of the association had been depleted by about £lB7O, which was on an average with what had been going on for a number of years. There was still £25,000 left, and at the rate they were going the association would be able to carry on for another 11 or 12 years. The work of the Claims Board had gone on smoothly.
Sir William Perry congratulated the Claims Board on the way it was handling the funds, and said there was still sufficient money left to meet an emergency.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Ladies’ Welfare Committee, the president paying a tribute to their work over a long period of years. It was decided to forward a letter to Mr A. P. Whatman expressing appreciation of the very deep interest he had always taken in.the affairs of the association.
