MEDIATION IN SPAIN
DEFINITE PLANS BEING DISCUSSED Stir Reported in Europe BEARING ON ANGLO-ITALIAN AGREEMENT By Telegraph.—Press Association. —Copyright. (Received This Day, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON, June 20. The Australian Associated Press says that for the first time since the commencement of the Spanish conflict, a definite plan is being discussed for mediation by outside powers for an early cessation of hostilities. There have been swift moves during the last few hours between European capitals, as a sequel to Signor Mussolini’s approach to Mr Neville Chamberlain in connection with the implementation of the Anglo-Italian Agreement and prospects are better than for a considerable time. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Rome correspondent says Lord Perth called on Count Ciano and had a conversation, the outcome of which was a mutual desire for the creation of favourable conditions whereby Britain might implement the Anglo-Italian Agreement.
