AMATEUR BILLIARDS

— EMPIRE CHAMPIONSHIP. ALBERTSON DEFEATED. MELBOURNE, June 19. Cleary (Victoria), 1852, defeated Albertson (New Zealand), 900, in the 16th heat of the Empire amateur championship. Cleary made a break of 322, which is a Victorian amateur record. Albertson’s best was 87. The contest is nearing its end, the three-day final beginning on Thursday. It is a foregone conclusion that Kennerley (England) will meet Marshall (Australia), the two champions so far undefeated. Moses and Albertson, both New Zealanders, have one match more each.
