PARTIES IN EIRE ELECTION A CONSIDERABLE LEAD. JAMES LARKIN DEFEATED. (Recd This Day, 10.10 a.m.) LONDON. June 19. The latest state of parties in the Eire election is:— De Valera Party 58 Cosgrave’s Party 32 Labour 5 Independents 6 Those elected include Mr de Valera, who headed the poll at Clare, obtaining 6459 votes in excess of the quota, Mr Aitken, Minister of Defence, Mr Traynor, Minister of Posts and Telegraphs, Mr McEntee, Minister of Finance, Mr O’Kelly, Deputy-Premier, Mr Ryan, Minister of Agriculture, Mr Cosgrave, Leader of the Opposition, and Mr Byrne, Lord Mayor of Dublin. Those defeated include Mr James Larkin, a prominent trade unionist. The final figures in the Free State general election last July gave Mr de. Valera’s party 69 seats, Mr Cosgrave’s party 48, Labour 13, and Independents 8. Stalemate was overcome by Labour giving its support to Mr de Valera.
