Service Station Broken Into.
Besides the several burglaries reported in Martinborough last Friday night, a service station on the main Masterton-Wellington highway, near Greytown, was broken into the same night. A sum of 14s in money, several gallons of benzine and a quantity of cigarettes were stolen. Sound A. & P. Society.
A credit balance of £1044 on the year’s operations is shown in the annual report of the president of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society, Mr J. H. Absolom, to be presented to the annual meeting of the society. Receipts at the spring show totalled £3285, against £3076 the previous year, and the expenditure was £2240, compared with £2119. Another increase in members’ subscriptions is recorded, the total under this head being £2206, against last year's record of £2178. This increases the average for the 13 years on the Tomoana grounds to £1994. The assets of the society total £38,357.
