CARTERTON
PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs W. J. C. Wells presided at the annual meeting of the Carterton branch of the Plunket Society. Out of respect to the memory of the '■-m late Mrs C. H. Barber, who had been on the committee for several years, members stood in silence for a moment or two. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President: Mrs W. J. C. Wells. Vice-presidents: Mesdames W. H. Booth, F. Court, J. Steel, Howard E. Jackson, J. Udy, Misses Moncrieff and Strang. Committee: Mesdames N. Armstrong, C. C. Callender, W. J. Candy, R. N. Campbell, E. W. Dyer, H. B. Keenan, V. L. Robinson, A. Phillpotts, J. B. Lawrence. Advisory Board: Messrs W. Howard Booth, A. C. Tucker, J. Steel, W. J. Candy, the Rev W. F. Stent, Drs Campbell and Wells. Hon Secretary and Treasurer: Mrs Trapp. Hon Auditor: Mr H. Mortenson. LEAGUE OF MOTHERS. At the monthly meeting of the League of Mothers three new members were elected. Solos were given by Mrs L. Knutson and a recitation by Mrs Every. The thought for the month, contributed by Mrs Tyler, was: —A mother’s work is only half done when she fits her children for the world. The other half is (with God’s help) to make the world a fit place for her children. Regret was expressed at the impending departure of Mrs D. A. McPherson, who is shortly to take up her residense in Huntly. Mrs Hancox, of Masterton, is to be the speaker at the July meeting.
