Miss A. M. Brown reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today:— Barograph, 30.06. Shade temperature: Maximum 57.5; minimum 35.7, terrestrial 26.7. Sunshine, 8 hours 15 min. Frost, 3.7 deg. General Situation: A deep westerly depression with a considerable northward extension is now approaching the southern portion of the South Island. It is apparently being followed by one or more secondaries. Forecast: Moderate to strong northwesterly winds, reaching gale force in places. Weather fair to fine at first, but clouds increasing and later rain developing. Temperatures rather milder.
