CARTERTON SALE BETTER DEMAND FOR CATTLE Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd. re•port: We held our weekly sale at Carterton yesterday. A small yarding of sheep came forward and prices were on a par with late sales. Cattle met with better competition. Pigs were about the same as last week:- —Quotations: —Wether hoggets (good), 17s; Ewe hoggets, 13s; W. hoggets (small), 10s; fat lambs 23s 6d; cows on drop £7 to £8 10s; spr. heifers, £6 to £7; fat cows, £5 to £6; forward cows £3 10s to £4 15s; store cows 35s to £3. Pigs, baconers up to £4 10s; porkers, 30s to 355; (light), 255; slips 15s to 18s; weaners 12s to 14s. FEILDING SALE SHEEP AND CATTLE IN DEMAND (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, June 17. There was a small yarding at the Feilding sale today. The quality, however, was on the whole very good. Prices remained firm at last week’s fates. In the mutton pens a .considerably lower yarding than at recent sales came forward and for top lines the bidding was keen. Store ewes also made good values, a small select line of ewes attracting a fair amount of attention. .Cattle were in quite good demand, only a few head of store and dairy sorts being yarded, while beef was also in shorter supply. Quotations were as follows: — Fat sheep: Ewes, extra prime 20s to 22s 7d, second grade 18s to 19s 9d, lighter 15s 7d to 17s, unfinished 13s to 14s 8d; prime wethers 26s 7d to 27s 4d, medium prime 25s 9d to 26s 4d; prime heavy lambs 18s to, 20s 3d, second quality 16s to 17s 6d, unfinished 15s. Store sheep: Good m.a. ewes r.w. S.D. rams 26s 6d to 27s 6d, others 24s lOd; five-year similar, best 31s 6d, backward 22s 6d to 23s 6d, two-tooth to five-year 335, four and five-year similar, good 28s, others 24s 6d to 25s 3d; four-tooth to four-year, best 325, backward sorts 20s to 25s 6d; stud Southdown 21s; twotooth wethers, forward 21s, plain 12s 9d; b.f. lambs 11s lOd to 12s; ewe lambs 22s 6d to 25s 6d. Dairy cattle: Springing heifers, good £7 10s to £8 ss, later cal vers £6 5s to £6 12s 6d; springing cows, best £7 12s 6d, others £4- 6s to £4 12s 6d; heifers in milk, good £9, others £5 12s 6d. Store cattle: Weaner heifers, small £1 17s 6d to £2 16s; yearling steers, £3 19s; forward Jersey cows, £3 9s to £3.17s 6d; empty heifers £2 19s; cows and calves £2 7s 6d; forward P.A. cows £5. Fat cattle: Shorthorn heifers, medium prime, £9 ss; light Jerseys, £5; good P.A. cows, £8 to £8 10s; ex dairy cows £4 to £5 10s; P.A. heifers, £6 10s to £B. Calves: Runners, £3 15s. Pigs: Slips 9s to £1 Is 6d.
