WEST SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Masterton West School Committee was held last night, the chairman, Mr F. Shearer presiding. The committee authorised the p'>',chase of a basketball for the use of the school team. The acting-headmaster, Mr V. E. Welch, reported that the heating plant was working satisfactorily, now that repairs had been made. Advice was received from the Masterton Trust Lands Trust that a capitation grant of £25 had been made to the school. The Masterton branch of the Now Zealand Educational Fellowship Group was given permission to use a room at the Side School for meetings. The acting-headmaster reported the attendance to be: Main school, 249; side school, 98; total, 347. The secretary was instructed to thank the Wairarapa Rugby Union for two footballs. Certain repairs were authorised and accounts totalling £22 Ils 9d were passed.
