♦ ANNUAL MEETING LAST NIGHT ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held last night, the president, Mr P. C. McLaren, presiding over a fair attendance of members. The annual report, previously published, was adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Chief, Mr T. A. Arcus; president, Mr J. B. McLaren; vice-presidents, Messrs R. McKenzie and C. A. Burling; treasurer, Mr W. S. L. Dickson; directors, Messrs J. W. Colquhoun, J. W. Henderson, E. D. McLachlan, J. J. Hunter, J. A. E. Kerslake, W. G. Milne, I. D. Cameron, W. J. Campbell, G. Beccroft, C. A. Burling, J. Walker (life director), D. A. Pickering, R. McKenzie, J. Jenkin, R. W. Coutts, J. McKenzie. In accordance with the rules, Mr P. C. McLaren, as past-president, becomes a member of the board ex officio; auditor, Mr F. M. Cunningham; hon pipers, Messrs Murdo McKenzie, R. Burns and J. McKenzie. A hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was passed to Mr P. C. McLaren for his work on behalf of the society. Reference was made to the recent successes of Pipe-Major ,Murdo McKenzie at piping contests, and the secretary was instructed to convey to him the society’s heartiest congratulations. The question of the society's social activities for the year were discussed, and it was decided that the first Ingleside be held in the Masonic Hall on Tuesday, July 5. The second Ingleside is to be held in the Municipal Hall towards the end of July.
