LULL CONCLUDED
SPANISH REBELS RENEW WAR ON SHIPPING ANOTHER BRITISH VESSEL SET ON FIRE. REPEATED RAIDS ON TOWNS AND VILLAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Copyright. LONDON, June 15. The “News Chronicle’s” Valencia correspondent says that, after a fourday lull, the war on neutral shipping has been resumed. The insurgents three times raided Denia, half-way between Valencia and Alicante, and again set the British ship Brisbane on fire. Other bombs fell near the British steamer Thurston. Three persons were killed and 20 wounded. Repeated raids on towns and villages have caused numbers of casualties among the civilian refugees from Castellon. Eight hundred bombs were dropped in the last 36 hours on Sagunto, about 25 miles down the coast from Castellon. Planes also raided the neighbouring town of Nules, creating devastation and killing 29 people. The insurgent warships Canarias and Almirante Cervera shelled the position of Castellon which the Republicans are still desperately defending. FRENCH SHIP ATTACKED. LEFT IN SINKING CONDITION. (Recd This Day, 9.45 a.m.) VALENCIA, June 15. The French freighter Gaulois has been bombed. The crew are doing their utmost to prevent the vessel sinking.
