WASTERTON SALE. POOR COMPETITION IN SHEEP. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd report as follows: —We held our weekly sale at Masterton yesterday when the smallest entry for some time was submitted to a fair attendance. The sale was again very “sticky,” both' fats and stores eliciting poor competition. Parsings were frequent, although we sold most of our yarding afterwards. The following are our prices:— Fat ewes 15s to 18s, good condition Ils to 12s; b.f. 2-th (fats), 21s 3d to 23s 9d; medium b.f. 2-ths 18s to 18s 9d; fat lambs, 20s, 2 and 4th wethers (medium) 18s 2d; ewe lambs (medium) 12s to 14s 6d; w. lambs (medium) 10s 6d to Ils 6d; small lambs 6s to Bs. FARMERS’ DISTRIBUTING CO. The N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., offered small entries of sheep and cattle at their sale yesterday. Fat sheep met with a dragging sale, and passings were frequent. Store sheep sold at late rates. The following are some of our realisations: Fat wethers, 245; fat ewes, 16s to 18s; B.F. lambs, 13s 9d; small w.f.w. lambs, 12s; store ewes, 6s; store cows, £3 Bs. N.Z. LOAN & MERCANTILE CO. The N-Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report having held their weekly sale yesterday when they had a small yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs which were offered to a fair attendance. Fat sheep met a lifeless market and we have to report a further easing for the third week in succession. The few store sheep also met a poor market. Cattle were in good demand, and we had a total clearance in this section. Prices were as follows: —. Fat sheep: Fat wethers, 22s to 235; fat ewes, 14s to 16s 6d; fat lambs, 16s 9d to 18s 3d. Store sheep: Small 2-th wethers, 18s; medium w.w. lambs, 13s 9d; store ewes, 7s to 8s 6d. Cattle: P.A. cows r.w. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their weekly Masterton sale held yesterday as follows:—A medium entry of sheep came forward andtwere offered to a, good attendance' of buyers. Prices remained much on a par with last week’s values, and we effected a total clearance under the hammer X as follows:—Fat ewes, 17s; light un- , finished fat ewes, 14s to 14s lOd; medium w.f. wether hoggets,,,,l3s 9d to 14s Id; store ewes, 9s 4d, 10s 6d to 10s; store 2-th wethers, 21s 4d. PRICES AT ADDINGTON. EXPORT SHEEP "SELL WELL. (By. Telegraph—Press .Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 15. Entries were slightly larger at today’s Addington market. Fat lambs and fat sheep sold well for export sorts. Fat cattle were a little easier and store wethers slightly firmer. The store sheep were mostly wethers, and they sold at a slight recovery in values, the best making to 225. The ewes forward were culls and sold at very low prices. More than 1000 fat lambs were penned and there was a keen sale at the best of schedule Tates, exporters operating briskly in view of the near approach of the end of the freezing season. The heavy entry of 6500 head of fat sheep was mostly indifferent quality. Good wethers maintained prices and freezing ewes were also in demand, but other classes were inclined to be easier. Best wethers made 29s to 325; tops, to 34s 4d; good, 26s to 28s; light, down to 19s; best ewes, 21s to 23s 6d; tops, to 27s 4d; good, 17s 6d to 20s; freezing sorts, 15s to 17s; light, down to 13s. A total of 520 fat cattle was penned, mostly inferior quality. There was an easier sale, though, with an improvement toward the finish. Best steers realised £l2 10s to £l4 10s; tops, to £l7 12s 6d; medium, £ll 5s to £l2

Porkers brought 48s 6d to 53s 6d, an average price a lb of 61 d to 6Jd; baconers made 59s 6d to £5 3s 6d, an average price a lb of 61d to 7d. JOHNSONVILLE SALE. EASING IN CATTLE VALUES. A large yarding of all classes of cattle came forward at the Johnsonville sale. Only a few pens of prime heavy weight bullocks were forward, the balance of the yarding being chiefly light weight and unfinished cattle. Prime heavy bullocks and medium weight cattle met with good competition, with prices showing a slight easing on those ruling last week. Unfinished bullocks were hard to quit even at reduced prices. The yarding of cows and heifers was of good quality, chiefly heavy weight cows, with a few pens of light weight. Although the demand was not keen, we report a total clearance with prices showing an easing tendency of 5s a head. A good sale resulted for vealers with no alteration in prices. No heavy weight wethers came forward, the yarding consisting of light weight and unfinished sheep. Only prime quality sheep were sought after, these selling readily at late rates, with frequent passings for unfinished sheep. The yarding of ewes was of indifferent quality. Light weight and unfinished ewes were hard to sell. There was no alteration in lambs. Quotations are as follows: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l6 3s to £l5 4s; prime heavy bullocks, £l5 to £l3 18s; heavy bullocks, £l3 12s to £l2 15s; light and unfinished bullocks, £l2 to £9 10s; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £9 15s to £8 18s; prime heavy cows and heifers, £8 12s to £8 12s 6d; cows and heifers, £7 15s 6d to £7; runners and vealers, £3 Is to 225.
