MEETING OF WAIRARAPA BOARD.

RETURN OF PATIENTS.

The chairman, 'Mr H. H. Mawley, presided at the monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board, held this morning. There were present: Messrs F. E. Bolton, I. McLeod, F. Court, W. I. .Armstrong, W. B. Martin, W. Thomas, C. T. Richardson, A. Forsberg, Trevor Beetham, - Arch. Clark, P. R. Welch, W. Britland, J. F. Thompson, D. McGregor, Misses C. McKenny, H. Card, Mesdames J. Robertson and S. Fletcher.

Reporting on the financial position of the board for the period, April 1 to May 31, the Secretary-Manager, Mr Norman Lee, stated that expenditure was in excess of receipts by £5,312 8s sd. The bank overdraft was £4,686 4s 2d and cheques outstanding £5lB. The Minister of Health had approved of the board’s estimates for the current year. Patients’ fees collections were much lower than the proportional estimate. The amount estimated for the period was £1,986 and the actual receipts were only £1290. The position was usual at the beginning of the year as during the latter part of the previous year activities were concentrated on the collection of fees, with the result that during the early part of the new year a deficiency was shown between the ambount estimated and the amount received.
