Value of District Nurse.
“The district nurse i c costing us £475 a year, but, on the other side, she is saving the board £lOOO a year.” observed Mr H. H. Mawley at today's meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. “If she keeps three patients out of the hospital,” he added, “she is paying her way, but at present she is keeping about six out.”
Ratana Inquiry Resumed.
Technical evidence on the speed at which a train would require to travel before being derailed on the six-chain curve near Ratana, where the Welling-ton-New Plymouth excursion train left the rails on March 26, was given in Wellington yesterday, when the board of inquiry set up to investigate the cause of the disaster resumed its sittings.
