Mrs R. C. Drummond, Lansdowne, is visiting Wellington. Miss Lois Hosking, who has been on a visit to the South Island, has returned home.
Miss Rita Morrison, Greytown, will sail from Wellington tomorrow on a visit to England. Miss M. Wilson, Hastings, is the guest of Miss Vivienne Bunny, Cole Street, Masterton.
Mrs H. B. Tomlinson, Wellington, has been spending the week-end with Mrs R. C. Drummond, Lansdowne. Miss Winifred Miller, of Napier, is the guest of Mrs C. J. Williams, Pownall Street, Masterton.
Miss M. McKillop and Miss N. Cooper, Wellington, are visiting Masterton for the Pearse-Bunny wedding.
Mrs J. Kennedy and Miss Doreen Kennedy, Opaki Road, Lansdowne, have returned from a visit to Auckland.
Miss Olive Glyn, of Christchurch, who has been the guest of Mrs W. A. Russell, The Terrace, Lansdowne, has returned home.
Mr and Mrs H. McLaren, Paraparaumu Beach, are visitors to Masterton for the Pearse-Bunny wedding, which is taking place today.
Mr and Mrs , David Monro and family, Auckland, are on a short visit to Mr and Mrs C. C. Monro, King Edward Street, Lansdowne. Miss Betty Bunny, whose marriage takes place today, was the guest of honour at a cheery little party held in Hugo and Shearer’s oak room at Masterton on Monday afternoon. The hostess was Miss Maxine McLaren, and the party took the form of a “recipe tea,” each guest bringing a favourite recipe for the bride. The room was gay with Iceland poppies and birch, and Miss McLaren received her guests wearing a rust-coloured angora wool dress with a hat to match. Miss Bunny wore a dark blut tweed coat and skirt. The two competitions were won by Miss Doreen Kennedy and Miss Dorothy Todd. Among those present were: Mesdames J. Logan, W. Free, H. Robinson, J, Reid and N. R. Cunningham, and Misses Vivienne Bunny, Rubina Thompson, Margaret Pearce, Corry Cameron, M. Wilson (Hastings), Helen and Patricia Gill, Shirley Mace, Nancy Carrick, Dorothy Todd, Leslie, Nora and Joan Beetham, Joclyn Betts, Peggy Sellar, Barbara Barton, Doreen Kennedy, Nancy Payton, Nora Robinson, Pat Jordan, Jocelyn Hornabrook, Margaret Mawley, Marian Falloon, Nan Rishworth and Katharine Maunsell. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Elizabeth McFarlane, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Burns, Whatman Road, Masterton, to Alexander George, younger - son of Mrs and the late Mr W. Hedley, Lansdowne, Masferton. BIRTHDAY PARTY. To celebrate the first birthday of their small son, Malcolm Stuart, Mr and Mrs W. J. Gray, Herbert Street, Masterton, entertained a few of their friends at a delightful party the othpr evening. The drawing room was gay with streamers and balloons and a big log fire cast its cheery warmth round the room. Mrs Gray received her guests wearing a model frock of rustcoloured satin trimmed with gold. Dancing and competitions were enjoyed, the winners of the latter being Mr and Mrs Ramsden, Miss Smith and Mr A. Ronaldson.
Among those present were Mr and Mrs A. Ronaldson (Wellington), Mr and Mrs Guy Ramsden, Mr and Mrs N. Lamont, Miss June Pettit, Miss Joan Long and Miss Nola Smith, and Messrs S. Dawe. Mason and Duff. In the afternoon a number of Malcolm’s small friends accompanied by their mothers, enjoyed a special party of. then - own, and romped with toys, squeakers and balloons so deal - to.children's hearts.
