ANXIETY & FEARS
CZECHS FEEL THEMSELVES SITTING ON VOLCANO CONDITIONS THAT CANNOT LAST. TENSION MUCH INCREASED. LONDON, June 13. The Prague correspondent of “The Times” says that a long tour of the Sudeten areas disclosed the fact that tension there has greatly increased in the last fortnight. Both Czechs and Germans say that anxiety and uncertainty have lessened the desire to work, and it is not believed that the present conditions will last much longer. Czech officials declare that the authorities are in full control of the situation, but feel themselves sitting on a volcano. ORDERLY ELECTIONS. SUDETENS POLL HEAVILY. PRAGUE, June 13. Only a few minor incidents have occurred during the elections. The results in the Sudeten German communities followed the previous polling, Henlein supporters securing 85 to 90 per cent of the votes. The Czechs gained slightly at the expense of the Social Democrats and Communists.
