The Governor-General, concluding his term of residence at Government Ho.use, Auckland, left by the Limited express last night en route to Christchurch. Lady Galway will leave Auckland tomorrow for Wellington.

Mr H. E. Pither, of Masterton, is on a visit to Wellington. A London cable message states that the Duchess of Norfolk has given birth to a daughter. A London cable message states that the late Duke of Devonshire left an estate of £112,808. The Hon P. Fraser, Minister of Health, is expected to return to Wellington from the East Coast today. The Hon Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, is expected to ret,urn to Wellington from the north, via Taranaki, on Friday. The Hon W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Hon H. G. R. Mason, Attorney-General, returned to Wellington from Auckland today.

Lieutenant-Colonel R. W. Fenton, N.Z.A., Wellington, has been awarded the efficiency decoration for 20 years' commissioned service in the Territorial forces. At an investiture at Government House, Auckland, a number of officers of the Order of St John of Jerusalem received their insignia at the hands of the Governor-General, Lord Galway, as follows: —Promotion to grade of commander (posthumous award), the late Dr Neil McDougall (from officer); admission in grade of commander, Sir Henry Horton; promotion to grade of officer, Mr U. Hitchon (from serving brother); Mr S. E. Langstone (from serving brother); admissions in grade of serving brother. Messrs Frank Crossley Mappin, Thomas Alexander Low. Canon R. G. Coats (as assistant chaplain), and Dr W. R. Lawrence (Te Aroha); admissions in grade of serving sisters, Mrs Jane Mac Kay and Miss Florence Fox.
